On Oct 8 and 9, 2009 Thomas Davenport, Nick Donofrio, Umair Haque and Peter Leyden took the stage at the Sogeti Executive Summit 2009 in Cannes, France. (See keynote links below.)
"The 24 Hours of Cannes"
The informal "buzz name" of Sogeti's Executive Summit 2009 was "The 24 Hours of Cannes." After lunch on Thursday the official program started. Welcoming remarks were made by Luc François Salvador, Chairman and CEO of Sogeti, who was introduced by Sogeti's CTO and master of ceremony Michiel Boreel. Menno van Doorn, VP VINT, Sogeti's Research Institute (Vision Inspiration Navigation Trends), set the stage for "The 24 Hours of Cannes." In between the two keynote speeches by Nick Donofrio and Umair Haque, Robert Immerlé, Head of Strategy and Acquisitions at Schneider Electric, presented his company's 21st century practices.
The CIO, 3 P's and 3 C's
On Friday, in between the keynote speeches by Peter Leyden and Thomas Davenport, TNT Post's CIO and VINT Chairman Hennie Wesseling shared his analysis of the evolution of the CIO function from Chief Implementation Officer via Chief Information Officer and Chief Integration Officer to eventually Chief Inspiration Officer. In the 21st century CIO's must take all four roles to not only support but also guide the organization in integrating technology and growing the business. The three P's of Paper, Petrol and People, Wesseling said, today are being enriched and partly or sometimes even largely replaced by the three new C's of Computers, Communities and Collaboration.
Food for Thought
During "The 24 Hours of Cannes" Capgemini Group Board Member Pierre Hessler interviewed the Sogeti Executive Summit attendees after their round table discussions. Before dinner on Thursday, illusionist Matthieu Sinclair offered extra food for thought by explaining his tricks of the trade while at the same time convincingly demonstrating them. In this way Sinclair underscored the relativity of human knowledge and perception.
The Seven "F" Words
In his wrapup of the Sogeti Executive Summit 2009, before lunch on Friday, Pierre Hessler presented the context for business and innovation in the 21st century by provokingly coupling a unique "F" keyword to every day of the week:
Monday - "Fruehlingsputzete" ("spring cleaning"), Tuesday - Fresh Start, Wednesday - Flood, Thursday - Friend, Friday - Free, Saturday - Fashion and Sunday - Fractals. This nicely pinpoints our "Next Practices for the 21st Century" environment, discussed during Sogeti's "24 Hours of Cannes."
Thursday's agenda featured Nick Donofrio and Umair Haque. On Friday we had Peter Leyden and Tom Davenport.
